PILLARS IN CAR DESIGN

Share
CAR PILLARS

Most of the reviews on car designs are given in terms of PILLARS and many other factors. To understand basic car design you need not be a professional AUTO-DESIGNER or a qualified architect :-p Here is a quick guide for you to understand the concept of PILLARS in car design.

A-D of CAR PILLARS

  1. A-PILLAR : The shaft of the material that supports the windshield on either of the windshield frame sides.

  2. B-PILLAR : The B pillar plays a key role in providing strength to the middle section of the car. Most of the sportier cars tend to omit this pillar.

  3. C-PILLAR : C pillar along with A pillar play a key role in car's aerodynamics and STYLING.

  4. D-PILLAR : D pillars are the end of line, generally used to house the BACKDOOR in SUV's or Wagon's.

This naming scheme is helpful for car designer's and critics to have REFERANCE POINT while discussing the design of a car.
